DANCE IQUAIL! receives City Proclamation at Celebrate Mantua

A citation from the Mayor of Philadelphia reads, in part: "This year, to commemorate America's 250th Anniversary, Celebrate Mantua centers on the theme “250 Black Moves” with the objective to experience Black movement - dance, rhythm, activism, and advocacy - as central to American history. Commendably, this provides a powerful counterpoint to the commemorative events that do not spotlight, or do not feature as

fully, the creativity or contributions of Black voices.

Furthermore, DANCE IQUAIL! is using this moment to launch a new community development corporation: the Mantua Enterprise for Community, Culture, and Artistry. It is a partnership with Mantua residents for neighborhood activation, revitalization, and economic development.

In this evolution of his work, Dr. Iquail Shaheed is tapping into Community, Culture, and Artistry to build infrastructure for transformation: health education, financial literacy, job creation, addiction recovery, and community joy. He is activating dance and the arts with the aim to provide real, tangible benefits for Philadelphians in this community.

It is fitting and appropriate, therefore, that the City of Philadelphia officially recognize with this Citation

and urge all residents to be aware of their efforts for more than a decade of connection and community impact in Mantua and offer my congratulations on the launch of Mantua Enterprise for Community, Culture, and Artistry, and wish them much success on into the future." See the full citation here
